Summary outline of the webinar
Call them what you want: moments of truth, moments of opportunity, moments of impact. Whatever you call them, leadership and life itself is a series of them. They may be planned or unplanned, seen or unseen, known or unknown. In any case, they go by in a flash.
In this talk George Bradt explores what leaders must do to take full advantage of those opportunities in general and, in particular, to take advantage of moments of impact around onboarding into a new position. Essentially, leaders need to manage the prelude leading up to each moment, the moment itself, and the follow through after the moment.
Prelude: Prepare in advance and get a head start when practical.
Moment of Impact: Be. Do. Say. Manage the message.
Follow through: Make it real on strategic, operational, and organizational levels.
For the talk, Bradt draws on insights gleaned from his own experience as a senior line manager and consultant and from what he has learned from those he has interviewed and studied for his weekly New Leader's Playbook columns on Forbes.com. The various columns have featured leaders of business, government, community, military, creativity, media, the arts, entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, and everyday heroes.
The talk is illustrated with these leaders' stories and provides concrete ideas attendees can apply to manage around their own moments of impact in order to inspire and enable others. In particular, Bradt will focus on critical moments of impact for a leader onboarding into a new position. The learnings are applicable well beyond those particular moments since we're all new leaders all the time.
