The Chimney Safety Institute of America recommends that homeowners who need their chimney inspected (and their chimney swept, if necessary) hire a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep prior to use of their fireplace or wood stove for the 2014-15 heating season. Our directory on csia.org/search is free, and you can locate a chimney sweep by zip code. But if you are a homeowner and you can't get on your CSIA sweep's schedule, be patient. They are worth the wait. CSIA Director of Education Ashley Eldridge explains why in this video.
